STONE TEMPLE PILOTS: Texas Concerts 'Postponed'

September 21, 2010

According to El Paso Times, the STONE TEMPLE PILOTS concert scheduled for tonight (Tuesday, September 21) at the El Paso County Coliseum in El Paso, Texas has been "postponed." Also called off are tomorrow night's (September 22) show in Lubbock and the September 27 gig in Corpus Christi, Texas.

No reason was given for the postponements.

The band last performed Sunday in Houston and went on an hour late, according to a review on HoustonPress.com. The reviewer said singer Scott Weiland opened the show with a two-minute rant and "seemed off mentally, a little too meandering and talkative, bringing up his own past drug and alcohol abuse." He added, "Weiland's banter in between songs was odd and confusing. He touched on using inner-ear monitors, the band's first gigs . . . what grunge means to him and why bands don't destroy gear anymore."

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS' new self-titled album, sold 62,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at No. 2 on The Billboard 200 chart.

"Stone Temple Pilots" marks the sixth top 10 for the band — its entire output of studio albums. Only its greatest hits package "Thank You" missed the top 10 (No. 26 in 2003).

The group's self-titled sixth album is its first all-new effort since 2001's "Shangri-La-Dee-Da".

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS reunited in 2008 after a six-year layoff.
